California Vehicle Registration Suspensions and Insurance Program
|
If your vehicle registration has already been suspended by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and you have purchased a California Low Cost Auto Insurance Policy through our agency, please go to step 1 below.
If your vehicle registration hasn't been suspended, then you will only see the Submit Insurance Information button after you submit the vehicle information, but you won't be able to submit this online. In this situation, if your registration is scheduled to suspend within the next 45 days, we recommend you notify us and we will manually submit proof of insurance, as you will not be able to do this through the California Department of Motor Vehicles website. _____________________________________________________________________________ 1) Visit the Vehicle Registration Suspensions and Insurance Program page on the California Department of Motor Vehicles website. Click Here 2) Click on the Insurance Inquiry button. 3) Enter the License Plate Number (required)* 4) Enter one of the following Personal Identification Number (PIN) OR Last 5 digits of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 5) Click on the Submit button 6) Click on the Submit Insurance Information button. 7) Enter the Policy Number from the ID card and for the NAIC Number, enter 99999, if you have a temporary one from the program and haven't received one from the carrier you have been assigned to. 8) Click on the Submit button 9) Click the Pay Reinstatement Fee button You will be required to pay the $14 reinstatement fee, before we can report to the California Department of Motor Vehicles that you purchased a California Low Cost Auto Insurance policy through our agency. 10) Click on the Add to Cart button 11) Click on the Pay button Select one of the Payment Options (E-Check Payment, Credit/ATM/Debit Card) and then enter your payment information. 12) Click on the Continue button 13) Click on the Checkout button Enter your payment information and click on the Submit Payment button 14) Click on the Print icon at the top of the page for your records and/or Send Email Confirmation to yourself, but entering your email address at the bottom of the screen and then click on the Send Email Confirmation button. IMPORTANT NOTICE: You will not be able to Submit Insurance Information, as you won't currently have a NAIC (National Association Insurance Commissioner Number) listed on the California Low Cost Auto Insurance temporary identification card. Once your California Low Cost Auto Insurance policy has been assigned to an insurance company, that company will electronically transmit the proof of insurance to the California Department of Motor Vehicles and the identification card you receive in the mail (note: please allow up to 45 days) will have listed the NAIC number, along with your policy number. In the meantime, we can manually report your proof of insurance to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, following the reinstatement fee of $14 has been paid. Please forward us a copy of the confirmation email to [email protected] and we will proceed with manually reporting the proof of insurance to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. We will email you confirmation, once this has been done. _____________________________________________________________________________ DISCLAIMER: DMV field office and call center personnel cannot process paperwork to clear vehicle registration insurance suspensions.
